A thorough needs analysis is crucial to the framework of an effective learning solution. This workshop combines 3 instructor-led sessions with spaced-repetition activities and team-based group projects.
Our L&D department consisted of talented Instructional Designers, Learning Experience Designers, and classroom facilitators. The group was phenomenal at producing high-quality training materials, though they often missed the mark in aligning that material with business needs and learning objectives.
The department standardized a needs analysis worksheet, the "Do Sheet", to help the team establish solid business-oriented frameworks for their learning solutions.
I worked with L&D leadership team to identify the gaps existing in our needs analysis process. We found that our L&D staff needed the most help in identifying business needs, learning objectives, and learner personas when interivewing stakeholders. We also saw an opportunity L&D manager engagement during the needs analysis phase.
The solution was a 3-part workshop that walked the L&D staff through scripted SME interviews. Each workshop built on skills by increasing the depth and complexity of the business need. To improve manager engagement, we followed each workshop up with indivdiual and group activities.
The instructor-led portions were created in PowerPoint with generative AI used to create cusom artwork and text-to-speech assets. Spaced-repetition activities were delivered using Rise (not featured above). A Facilitator's Guide and Particpant Materials were provided to ensure consistent delivery and branding.
